Note to Know Stroke Subscribers: I announced on my Believe in Balance Podcast last week I’m launching a new balance course and am offering a free workshop in October to tell you all about it! If you don’t follow my balance podcast, I wanted to share the news with my stroke community as well so you can reserve a seat if interested.
Why I Built This Course and About My Upcoming Balance Workshop
The 100 billion dollar rehab question is, how does someone who has had a fall and has lost mobility confidence believe in their balance again?
It’s a great question and one that I have quite frankly become obsessed with since a stroke robbed me of my balance years ago. Luckily I had my physical therapy training and knowledge of how the brain works in health and disease states to fall back upon.
Yes, that knowledge was the foundation and was helpful for the ‘why’ but I backed it up with a lot of hard work, determination +trial and error ‘hacking’ my own recovery, and YES during that process had many FALLS while trying to BELIEVE in my own balance again!
What I am sharing with you now on this workshop and in my course is the ‘how’ I did it and I’m showing you my balance assessments and the evidence based conditioning exercise pathway I used to build better balance.
I was fortunate I know because with a disturbance to your balance, and especially with a fall comes the paralyzing fear of another and with it the loss of mobility, strength, energy, and independence. It’s a downward spiral that often that leads to long term disability (read more on this page just how costly falls are in the US and why it is truly becoming a billion dollar rehab question what to do about them).
‘Since I returned to private practice I’ve spent the last 8+ years refining my balance program with my physical therapy clients. Many of them initially also used the same adjective ‘paralyzing’ to describe the anxiety and fear they had of falling. I also took additional balance courses and neuro based certifications, worked in industry in consulting roles with rehab technologies for balance and interviewed leaders to learn about the best evidence-based balance programs and adopted several of the mobility assessments into my own balance program pathway-Believe in Balance”. -David Dansereau,MSPT,CAPS physical therapist and certified aging in place specialist. Ready for some good news?
Now for the good news, it doesn’t have to end with a downward spiral after a fall!
In my upcoming Believe in Balance workshop I’ll show you there is another pathway forward and I’ll provide you with the balance roadmap I use with my clients so you can take charge of your balance too! Reserve your seat, and I’ll share the top strategies and exercises to help you regain control over your balance using research-driven insights, evidence based programs and advice from industry leaders in aging wellness and longevity.
I’ll also share a funny story when you join me on the workshop when I knew I was on to ‘something’ with the balance pathway program I was building…
Here’s a brief primer:
A few years back when our office secretary kept pulling me aside to ask, ‘One of X’s (other therapist) patients wants to know if they can get on your schedule. They’d like to switch PTs’ and work with you as they are watching you work with your clients, they’ve watched their progress and the fun you seem to be having with them and feel they would be better off working with you.’ (PT Sidebar: This is the best compliment you can pay to a PT by the way!)
This happened many times over a 3 year period in my last clinic consulting role and I knew I needed to share this program beyond my one-one patient contact capability as my schedule was full already and I couldn’t work with all the requests I received despite trying to accommodate everyone that had asked.
Why Register? Whether you've already suffered a fall or had a few close calls and know you need to take charge and become more proactive about your balance health, this workshop is for you.
Let's get started!

MY NEW BELIEVE IN BALANCE PROGRAM IS DESIGNED WITH OTAGO PRINCIPLES IN MIND AS I’M BOTH AN EXPERIENCED PHYSICAL THERAPIST AND A CERTIFIED OTAGO BALANCE PROGRAM PROVIDER.
